I love Gallery Standouts for many reasons…. fantastic inspiration, gorgeous kits, papers, and elements used in new and exciting ways, finding amazing scrappers, etc.  I scrapped in private for so long, it seems, before getting up the courage to post a layout in a gallery (it was for a challenge – an easy way, I found, to introduce myself without having to introduce myself).  I gradually got more confident, both with scrapping and with participating in forums and galleries.

I even got the courage to share my digi designs finally and answered the Polka Dot Plum designer call, months before they opened.  My heart raced and the blood drained from my head when I opened the email from Lauren to find out if they liked me.  I happily joined PDP and made some of the best friends ever in Amy and Lauren (and the energizer bunny of CT bosses, Faye) and then took a big leap and answered a rare open call at CatScrap after existing quietly at PDP since well before the store even opened.  I didn’t answer the call until I think close to the last day – I started the email a dozen times and chickened out.  I couldn’t believe it when I was accepted and invited.  But I still love to scrap.  Love it.  It’s soothing and familiar.  When I stall out designing a product I scrap.  And I always feel better.  I post my layouts because it’s what you do – despite the fact that it’s ridiculously intimidating putting a layout of mine in a gallery full of exquisite layouts made by remarkable scrappers that I couldn’t dream of measuring up to.  And while I love looking through Gallery Standouts, at all the pretty, pretty layouts, I have embarrassing dreams of finding my own layout posted there someday.

Well… that day has come.  Take that suckers.

Living in the Great Northwest for 30 years I am not exactly a summer person.  I like the rain.  I like the cold.  I do not like the heat.  But every year around this time I suck it up, pull out the fan, and sweat whether I like it or not.  This summer, to try and work out my fear of the sun, I made Summer Catch!

Another week’s gone by and I’ve got another re-release for you! Actually one and a half…

And if there are any typos it’s because Brett’s sanding my legs. Actually sanding them… that wasn’t, like, dirty code for anything. We’re two birds one stone kind of people – fabulous multi taskers!

OMG… I just lost a whole post!  I don’t want to type it again… LOL

So I’ll just give you the lowdown.  Today marks my first official day as an exclusive CatScrap designer.  Crazy, huh?

I’ll be slowly moving some of my stuff over, starting with Keen! I love this kit and I love it CatScrap.

I’ve got to be honest… this freebie should have been up hours ago. I started to watch last night’s saved 2 hour of Grey’s Anatomy and within seconds forgot I was working. I spent two hours hysterically sobbing. Fortunately it’s Friday and I’m all alone here at home. Well, with the exception of Pippi, Gomez, and Franny (who was 7 weeks old yesterday and is both heart breakingly cute and psychotic).

Hey! Where’ve you been? What? I’ve been the one missing??

Okay, you’re right. The quick version…
Illness. Child support wars. Diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Met Polka Dot Amy. Pippi had her puppy. Outdoor School. More illness.

Those are just the headlines but I imagine you get the jist. I’m sleepy. And hungry. And swollen.

But that’s not why you’re here, is it! New this week:

I love this kit.  Seriously.  It’s inspired by my baby boy (who’s almost 9).  He dresses up for school almost every day.  Button up, sports coat, and tie.  Wakes up early every day to shower.  On his own.  He combs his hair and has been wearing deodorant since he was 4.  Not because he’s stinky but because he wants to smell nice.  He uses proper tense and is ultra polite and witty.  Truth be told – the other side of his personality involves an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars, Legos (can build the biggest kits in under an hour), and WWII.  And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.  The kids complicated.  And so smart that if he didn’t look like me I’d have to wonder.  But back to the kit… 42 papers, 60 something elements (no recolors), 2 alphas (one in two colors), and when you buy the whole kit together you also get a template set and brush set, exclusive to this kit.  Seriously.  Boyish without being cartoony or babyish.  And classic enough to work for everyone else, too.    And there’s mustaches.  MUSTACHES!!  And you can use the mustache brush to paint mustaches on your pictures!  The best part?  Only $7 for all of it.  No joke.    Here’s some layouts from my ladies Jenn and Jadelyn…
